flyotel 2005

project design of a five star hotel

a hotel project conceived by mahmoudiehconcepts and developed in cooperation with ONL Rotterdam. the fascination of the flyotel is based upon the theme of flying. the design captures the images of a bird spreading out its wing and lifting its head just before taking off. the entrance slopes slightly into the lobby and reception area behind which different bars and restaurant melt into each other. the lobby contains sculptural seating combined with luxurious upholstered armchairs and defines the epicentre of the open space. the reception is a free, organic, imposing shape in fibreglass and wood. on the left hand side is a day bar with a long sculptural counter and comfortable seating. next to this is the first restaurant with a subtle desert atmosphere. following the restaurant one finds a cocktail lounge bar with dune like sofas with ornamental arabic cushioning. the next ground floor restaurant has terraces towards the water and offers a fine dining ambiencet.
